Questions about our Products:
Do you offer private label? Please e-mail us at labels@colonialcandlecrafters.com for more information on our custom labels.
Does Colonial Candlecrafters offer fundraising opportunities? Yes, Click here for more information.
Do you sell wholesale? Yes, our jar candles, votives, and Odor Eliminator candles are available for wholesale.
Can I refill my Colonial Candlecrafters Jar candle when it is empty? Because glass could weaken or accumulate bumps or scratches from use, we do not recommend refilling our jars.
Does Colonial Candlecrafters use lead wicks? There has been a good deal of recent coverage in the media regarding possible health issues relating to candles containing lead wicks, some of which has unfortunately been confusing or misleading. In order to eliminate any concern or confusion on the part of our guests and consumers in general, COLONIAL CANDLECRAFTERS WOULD LIKE TO ASSURE YOU THAT WE DO NOT USE LEAD WICKS IN ANY OF OUR CANDLE PRODUCTS. At Colonial Candlecrafters we care deeply about the health and well-being of our guests and customers. This has been our mission for over 36 years and we will continue to strive to offer the very best candles available. Our wire core wicks are made from zinc, Not lead. Colonial Candlecrafters will NEVER knowingly sell a product containing lead core wicking. This is a link to a list of candle makers who have signed a lead-free wick program. www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml01/nolead.html
Is there any way to tell the difference between lead and zinc core wick? You bet! Snip 1/4" of the unburned wicking and remove the wire. Rub the wire across a sheet of paper. Lead wire will "write" (like a pencil) and the zinc wire will not
Why do candle wicks sometimes become mushroom shaped? When the candle is consuming wax more quickly than the flame can burn completely, carbon deposits may develop. This will most likely occur when the wick needs to be trimmed. Extinguish the flame, trim off the wick and carbon deposit and relight. Do not allow the wick trimmings or other materials to fall into the wax pool.
How can I keep my candles looking their best? Candles will discolor or fade when they are exposed to intense light for extended periods. We do not recommend displaying your candles for long periods in direct sunlight, fluorescent lighting or other strong illumination. Wax will soften in temperatures over 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This may cause taper candles to bend or negatively affect the quality of your candles. Store your candles in a cool, dry place. To restore your candles to their original luster, use a nylon stocking to "polish" your candles.
Do you have a catalog? Yes. We have brochures describing our jar candles as well as our wedding candles.
What is the difference between Colonial Candlecrafters candles and another brand? Colonial Candlecrafters candles are 100% handmade in central Pennsylvania, where our benchmarks are color, fragrance, burning efficiency, functionality and appearance. While product loyalty drives consumers to particular products, we feel Colonial Candlecrafters offers top quality, hand- made products with comparable characteristics to the "big name" competitors at a more reasonable price.
Why does the color of my candle look different than the color on my computer? When you consider the variables of photography along with all the different types of monitors, video cards, and system configurations, it's easy to realize that not all computer screens are going to project the exact same colors. We try our best to make sure that the image we project will be a true representation of the colors of the item you're ordering. (We check three different monitoring systems before the images are posted on the site.) Secondly, as you know, Colonial Candlecrafters hand pours our own candles. We control every candle's color and detail with each batch made. Remember these candles are unique and distinctive, with their own individual characteristics. Please allow for subtle differences within each candle.
